Ancient Egypt Sensory Bin

Go on a dig and explore the secrets underneath the pyramids. An ancient Egypt sensory bin is a fun way to learn about the ancient Egyptian culture of the past. This sensory bin pairs well with Magic Tree House: Mummies in the Morning. I get commissions for purchases made through the affiliate links in this post.

Supplies Needed for the Ancient Egypt Sensory Bin

How to Make the Ancient Egypt Sensory Bin

Pour lentils, brown rice, or sand into a plastic container (shoe size or larger). I used a combination of lentils and brown rice.

Bury the Egyptian toy figures in the rice/lentils/sand. I linked to Amazon in the supply list but the Safari Ltd Ancient Egypt TOOB is currently only offered by third party sellers for more than it’s worth. I picked mine up at Michael’s with a 50% off coupon. Hobby Lobby also usually carries the Safari Ltd TOOBs. Don’t forget to use a coupon there, too.

Add tools for digging. I set out a paint brush, a spoon, and tweezers.

Print out the Ancient Egypt cards to go along with the toy figures.

Encourage your child to use the tools to find the Egyptian artifacts.

As your child uncovers the treasures, find the card that matches. Use the card to talk about the object found.

Each card has a short description of the object. If you’re interested in learning more definitely seek out more information. Egyptian history is so interesting.
