Summer Science for Toddlers

Oobleck is brilliant for sensory play and this frozen, kool-aid version not only feels great, it smells delicious too.

Make your own bubble mixture and wand to make giant bubbles, this is great fun for kids of all ages.

Freeze fruit juice into ice cube trays and make your own slushy drinks. This is great for learning about melting. Try leaving the ice cubes in different places to see where they melt the fastest. You could even make different colours using different combinations of ice cubes.

We loved these baking soda ice cubes, just add vinegar and watch them fizz.

Sinking and floating is another fab activity that’s brilliant for toddlers. Let the child choose what to test, for older children you can ask them to predict which will sink and which will float and ask them to record the results in a table.
