Lily’s Nursery: Owl Wall Decals

Earlier this month I shared the vinyl wall map in Aiden’s room. Decdecals also sent me wall decals for Lily’s nursery. I found some adorable owl wall decals that helped set the colors for her room.

Owl Wall Decals

I chose 3 different owl wall stickers from decdecals. They are super easy to place on the wall. Just peel and stick. The wall stickers come in several pieces. Your job is to assemble the mural on the wall. If you make a mistake, the stickers easily peel off the wall and you can move them to a new location. The wall decals come with a tiny picture of what the mural should look like {just like the picture on their website}.

8 Owls

The owls on the branches are my favorite of the 3 wall decals {and easiest to install}. I taped the decals {while still in the packaging} to the wall to determine where I wanted to place them.

Then, I peeled the branch lines off and added the owls. I wanted to move one of the owls a little, but when I went to pull it off of the branch, some of the brown of the branch came off. Be careful when placing the decals on top of one another.

The Branch

To help imagine where the branch should go on the wall, I simply used a piece of painter’s tape the same length as the branch.

Then, I cut out the pieces of the branch  and laid them on the floor to make sure I had them oriented the correct way. It took repositioning the branch a few times before I was happy with the placement on the wall. I added the flowers and leaves to the branch and was done.

The branch and owl fit nicely above Lily’s tall dresser. On her dresser, you’ll see an assortment of gifts/hand-me-downs: a lamp, an owl bank, a Precious Moments night light, a frame from Hobby Lobby with Lily’s birth announcement, and a stuffed frog from my childhood {who happens to be named Lily}.

The Tree

I had a hard time imagining how to put the tree together, so I cut out each of the pieces and laid them out on the floor before I added them to the wall. I wasn’t happy with the height of the tree and the placement of the branches, so I arranged them differently than the picture indicated. I had to cut a curl off of one of the branches to make it look like I wanted. Overall, I am happy with the way the tree turned out.

I do wish 3 things about the tree:

  1. I wish the tree had wider branches {like the single branch above}.
  2. I wish the quality of this wall decal was better. The colors are much more transparent than the other 2 decals I received. You can see the branch of the tree underneath the flower.
  3. I wish there were better instructions for assembling the decal. The picture is lovely but the actual stickers didn’t correspond well. The lengths/proportions didn’t match up.

Which owl wall decal is your favorite?

Check out the decdals website for their full selection of vinyl wall stickers. In addition to animals, they also have quotes. For Aiden’s room, I was deciding between the map of the world and this fun Dr. Seuss quote for his reading area.
