Our countdown to Christmas continues for day 4 of Advent. I’m sharing a Christmas science idea with you at the beginning of each day until Christmas. On day 4, we become Christmas Detectives. Follow. the clues to solve the Case of the Missing Present
In this activity, we are practicing scientific reasoning skills or problem solving skills by reading clues and solving riddles.
The first clue is left on the Advent tree in Day 4’s envelope for Aiden and his dad.
The clue reads: A present has been hidden. It is your job to follow the clues and find the hidden Christmas present. You found the first clue on this mini tree. Near a big red glass ball the next clue will be.
They determine the next clue is near a red ornament on the big Christmas tree.
This clue reads:
1+1 = 2
Find the next clue in a __ __ __ __. (4 letters that rhyme with the first line.)
The clue is hidden in a shoe. Oh, but which shoe? This clue was the most difficult to find. Aiden had to think about where we keep our shoes. He found the right location and got the next clue.
It reads: Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way. The next clue will be found on an instrument you play!
They found the next clue on the piano.
Aiden with the help of his dad solved the riddles on the rest of the clues and found the missing present.
This would be a fun activity to do on Christmas day as well – especially if you have an extra special present to give.
You are welcome to download all of The Case of the Missing Christmas Present clues for your own personal non-commercial use. (It’s a Word document so you can edit the clues.) Add clipart or print on festive paper for an added touch.
I’ll see you tomorrow for Day 5’s Christmas science activity.
