Bubble Wrap Names

Kids love learning how to write their names. The process starts with learning the letters and practicing name recognition. Our bubble wrap names are a super fun way to touch and feel the names.  I get commissions for purchases made through the affiliate links in this post.

Bubble Wrap Names

I received a large envelope lined with bubble wrap. I knew we had to use the bubble wrap for something. My 4 year old has been working on writing her name lately, so I knew making bubble wrap names would be something she would enjoy. It was also a great introduction to his name for my toddler.

I started by writing my kids’ names on the bubble wrap in bubble letters. (You could also write in regular print like Coffee Cups and Crayons did with their name writing activity on bubble wrap.) Then, I cut out the letters and glued them to colored paper. Cutting and gluing could be a job for your child depending on their skill level.

I invited my kids to see their names written in bubble wrap. They were excited that I combined two of their favorite things: bubble wrap and their names!

We talked about the letters that made up their names. I asked my 4 year old to say the letters in her name and point to them as she did.

My toddler knows some letters some of the time, so we worked on spelling his name together. I pointed to a letter and he said it. If he didn’t know the letter, I said it and had him repeat it. He was excited to touch and say the letters. “That’s an E!”

Then, I had the kids trace the letters with their fingers. Next, they popped all of the bubbles. Popping bubbles is a great for working on fine motor skills. In the picture below, Lily had finished popping all of her letters, so she helped her brother pop his.

My daughter asked for markers so she could decorate her name. I was surprised by how long this simple name activity kept them occupied.
