Who We Are
Inspiration Laboratories is a US blog founded in 2012 by Trisha Stanley. We share activities and resources for parents and educators.
How Information Is Collected
Information is collected via cookies, log files, Google analytics, leaving comments on the blog, purchasing a product through our Inspiration Laboratories shop, or subscribing to our newsletter.
What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Comments are public and visible to anyone who reads them. Your email address will never be shown in the comment section of the site, but your name and comment will be visible to others. Avoid leaving detailed personal information in your comments.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. You may request that we delete the comment and remove you details at any time. Please email trisha@inspirationlaboratories.com to ask for this to be carried out.
If you are under 16 you must obtain your parents permission before leaving a comment.
Inspiration Laboratories Newsletter
If you choose to subscribe to our newsletter via a sign up form on Inspiration Laboratories then your email address is required so that you can be sent the emails.
Your data is collected and then passed to our email service provider Mad Mimi.
You may unsubscribe at any time from our newsletters using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email or you can email trisha@inspirationlaboratories.com and ask to be removed. Please make sure that you are using the same email address as you receive the emails from to do this.
Within the email service provider we track the newsletter views and clicks you make (pages you visit and actions that you take) within the emails so that we can provide a more personalized email service to you. You can request that the view and/ or click tracking be disabled at any time.
We send emails 1 – 3 times a week. We may include promotions for products.
Your email and name are never sold or given away to a third party.
All emails you receive are CAN-SPAM compliant. At the bottom of every email, you will find information on how to contact the sender, as well as information on how to unsubscribe.
Shop Purchases
Products in the Inspiration Laboratories shop are sold via a third party through our affiliate product owners (NurtureStore, STEAM Kids, Hands On As We Grow, ebooktag, etc.) Your name, email address, and sometimes country are required during the checkout process. This information is required in order to send you the purchased product and to determine whether or not the EU VAT tax should be applied to your purchase.
The details you enter are stored by the third party applications. All payments are made through PayPal, which does not store your financial information once the transaction has been processed.
Each affiliate program collects and retains their own data. I do not have access to the personal information that is collected by these affiliate programs. It is best to read their individual privacy policies for more information on how your data is collected and used.
Cookies
Cookies store user-specific information into a log file. We use cookies to track your use of our site and provide the best possible experience for you.
You can chose to disable or selectively turn off our cookies or third-party cookies in your browser settings, or by managing preferences in your browser. We also use cookies for the following purposes:
- Amazon (for advertising)
- Google Analytics (for tracking website traffic and user behavior): Read how their cookies work
- Mediavine (for advertising)
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc. from places like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Affiliate Program Participation
This website may engage in affiliate marketing, which is done by embedding tracking links into the website. If you click on a link for an affiliate partnership, a cookie will be placed on your browser to track any sales for purposes of commissions.
Inspiration Laboratories is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and links to Amazon.com. As part of this Amazon Associates program, Inspiration Laboratories will post customized links, provided by Amazon, to track the referrals to their website. This program utilizes cookies to track visits for the purposes of assigning commission on these sales. You may read more about Amazon Affiliates and their Operating Agreement here.
Google Analytics
Inspiration Laboratories uses Google Analytics to track website performance and user behavior. It provides information on pageviews, referral sources, and other valuable information that helps me adapt the content I write for this website. Google Analytics does capture anonymous data about location, age, gender, and interests, but I have no way to connect that information and specifically identify you. Google Analytics may also capture your IP address when you visit this website. User and event data does not automatically expire. You can read more about that here.
Advertisements on Inspiration Laboratories
To support this website, third party advertisements are used. We run advertisements via Mediavine. They may use cookies or web beacons that collect information including your IP address, your ISP, the browser you used to visit our site, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed.
This is generally used for geotargeting purposes (showing real estate ads for your specific area, for example) or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing cooking ads to someone who frequents cooking sites).
Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)
The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.
First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies, tags, pixels, beacons and other similar technologies (collectively, “Tags”) may be placed on the Website to monitor interaction with advertising content and to target and optimize advertising. Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser’s cache. The “help” feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to receive notification of new cookies, how to disable existing cookies and how to clear your browser’s cache. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, you can consult the information at All About Cookies.
Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.
The Website collects the following data using a cookie when serving personalized ads:
- IP Address
- Operating System type
- Operating System version
- Device Type
- Language of the website
- Web browser type
- Email (in hashed form)
Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.
If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices to opt-in or opt-out of this data collection, please visit National Advertising Initiative opt out page. You may also visit Digital Advertising Alliance website and Network Advertising Initiative website to learn more information about interest-based advertising. You may download the AppChoices app at Digital Advertising Alliance’s AppChoices app to opt out in connection with mobile apps, or use the platform controls on your mobile device to opt out.
For specific information about Mediavine Partners, the data each collects and their data collection and privacy policies, please visit Mediavine Partners.
