Then, head to the park for a Star Wars themed play date. Create a giant Star Wars board game for your Star Wars toys. This outing is perfect for some mother-son bonding time or invite friends and family to play on Star Wars Day.
Star Wars Play Date
It’s important to give individual attention to each child and spend quality one on one time with them. My husband and I take turns taking our kids out for special time. Aiden and I love Star Wars so we decided our special time should revolve around that. We went out for breakfast and then we headed to the park to play. We found a large piece of concrete with a nice grassy area beside it.
I set up our picnic blanket with our supplies. Then, we got to work creating a game board with chalk.
Popchips Star Wars Galaxy Puffs
We brought Popchips Star Wars Galaxy Puffs with us to the park as part of a mid-morning snack with broccoli, carrots, grapes, and popchips. The popchips were perfect because they are Star Wars themed (look for BB-8 on the bag) and they are a great-tasting, better-for-you alternative. Popchips Star Wars Galaxy Puffs are non-gmo and gluten free plus they’re made with real aged white cheddar. They are shaped like Star Wars characters. We had fun searching for the mystery shape not listed on the bag. Look for these shapes: BB-8, stormtrooper, Millennium Falcon, tie fighter, and the mystery shape.
We found our Popchips Star Wars Galaxy Puffs at Kroger in the natural foods section.

Giant Star Wars Board Game
Use chalk to draw a giant board game. Star Wars toys (and your child) become the playing pieces. Start by drawing a path of squares. Then, add interest to the board game with additional colors. In our game, you have to navigate BB-8 across the oranges spaces. The blue spaces represent water and the black spaces are occupied by the First Order. Can you spot Kylo Ren and BB-9E?
Roll the die and move your Star Wars characters through the game board. You can count the squares by walking on them yourself or by moving your character across the squares.
Aiden and I had fun taking turns driving our remote-controlled BB-8 through the game board.
You could also use the giant board game to practice math or literacy skills. Or you could ask each other random Star Wars trivia. Above all, have fun!
Hanging out with my son at the park was a great way to connect with him and spend time together.
