Perfect Square by Michael Hall
In Perfect Square, Michael Hall takes you on an adventure of a perfect square that is transformed into different things. At first the square is perfectly happy being a square. By the end of the story the square feels confined, rigid, and cramped, so he solves the problem and revisits his journey.
This book is a fun read and wonderful for inspiring imaginations. What can we make from just a square? Cut the square into different pieces and it can become anything.
Perfect Square Art
We chose a few scenes from the book and recreated them ourselves.
First we tore the paper. (I have this scrapbook paper that has cool edges when you tear it.)
The paper pieces became a park.
This square was cut up with scissors.
And turned into a fountain.
That bubbled with water.
This squared shattered.
And was made into a bridge.
A river was made from this square.
Aiden then made his own perfect square art. He cut the square with his “fancy” scissors. He built skyscrapers on the page.
Aiden created a second piece of art. He cut up a square and glued the pieces to the paper. He’s not sure what this one is.
What do you think we should call it?
