Moodsters Toys Help Develop Emotional Intelligence
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Moodsters. All opinions are 100% mine.
Emotions can be such a tricky thing for kids to manage. That’s where the Moodsters™ can help. The toys were designed to teach emotional intelligence in preschoolers. Read more about our experience with the toys and then check out the giveaway at the end.
Moodsters™ Toys Help Develop Emotional Intelligence
The Moodsters brand is the first of its kind designed to focus on emotional intelligence, which is the ability to recognize, understand, and manage one’s emotions. They were developed by Denise Daniels, a Peabody award-winning broadcast journalist and parenting and child development expert.
The Moodsters help children manage their emotions by teaching them words for how they are feeling. The characters model strategies for dealing with emotional situations. Preschoolers are the target age range for these products. Visit The Moodsters Website to learn more.
You can now find The Moodsters award-winning toys at Toys R Us. Their products include: The Moodsters Feelings Flashlight, the Moodsters Meter, the Moodsters Mirror, the Moodsters Feelings Notebook & Feelings Crayon Set, and the Moodsters Talking Plush and Activity Book assortment. We received the Moodsters Feelings Flashlight and one of the Moodsters Talking Plush and Activity Books. Head over to Toys R Us to check out all The Moodsters products.
The Moodsters Talking Plush and Activity Book assortment
Meet the Moodsters detectives – Coz, Lolly, Quigly, Razzy, and Snorf. They represent different emotions that children experience (happiness, love, fear, anger, and sadness respectively). Give the talking plush a squeeze and the character talks. Each Moodster plush also comes with a 32-page activity book that helps kids learn about emotions.
We received Quigly, the green Moodster who represents fear. He’s green because he shakes with fear like a green leaf. The product comes with the talking plush, stickers, and an activity book.
The sticker sheet has page numbers so you know which stickers to use on each page. I found this very helpful. In the picture below, Quigly is introduced. he’s afraid of a few things.
The picture below shows another page from the activity book. Can you spot the different faces? We used our flashlight to do this activity.
The Moodsters Feelings Flashlight™
The Feelings Flashlight™ is an electronic talking flashlight that features the five Moodsters, Coz, Lolly, Quigly, Razzy and Snorf. The Feelings Flashlight also comes with a 32-page storybook, “The Scary Sleepover.”
Turn the knob on the flashlight to scroll through the different characters. Push the button and the characters talk about the emotions they represent. They also have fun games and activities for kids to do while using the flashlight. (I’ll talk about this more in a future post.)
My daughter takes the flashlight with her to bed. She’s been shining the light on the wall and listening to the Moodsters. This gives her something to think about as she calms down and gets ready for sleep.
