Glow in the Dark Name Bracelet Bible Lesson
A glow in the dark name bracelet is a great craft for church – Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, or other children’s church activities. Use it in a Bible lesson to help kids remember they are the light of the world and they are to show others the light.
Glow in the Dark Name Bracelet Bible Lesson
CraftProjectIdeas.com sent us glow in the dark letter beads {among other things}. My Sunday School class {K-2} loved making this simple beaded heart craft, so I knew they would love using the letter beads. You can make one, too!
Make a Bracelet
Materials:
- Glow in the dark letter beads
- String or pipe cleaners
- Scissors
Have each child find the letters in his or her name. Cut pieces of string {the stretchy kind would work best} for each child. Have the children string the beads on. They may need help figuring out how to organize their letter beads and how to keep them in order for the bracelet.
Instead of string, you can use pipe cleaners. Beads are easier to add to pipe cleaners than to string. This is how Aiden {age 3.5} made his name bracelet.
Teach the Bible Lesson
The Bible lesson is based on Matthew 5:14-16 {NET}:
You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill cannot be hidden. People do not light a lamp and put it under a basket but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven.
Using glow in the dark beads allowed me to illustrate how we are the light of the world. The children’s names glow in the dark. Their names represent their actions. The glowing represents the light shining even in darkness. Their actions should be Christ-like. We then discussed what they can do to shine their light – what they can do to be like Christ.
