Our Favorite Kid’s Activities of 2014
With 2014 coming to an end, I wanted to take a moment and reflect on our year here at Inspiration Laboratories. Over the next few days I’ll be sharing the most popular posts from 2014. Today I want to share our favorite kid’s activities of 2014 – my top 5 and Aiden’s top 5.
Aiden’s Favorite Activities
Aiden loves space, rockets, building things, cars, exploring outside, experiments, and baking soda and vinegar. We looked back on the activities we did this year. He chose the following as his favorite ones he would like to try again.
Launching Easter Eggs Experiment – Aiden enjoys launching cars and using his Hot Wheels tracks quite often. This experiment was twist on the regular car launching. We used plastic Easter eggs instead of cars. Aiden thought this was extra cool and spent days recreating the experiment. It tops his list of activities to repeat.
Easter Egg Rocket Races – Aiden says he loves this activity because he likes to play with string. Use the string to launch rockets across the room.
Inventing a Bouncy Ball Machine – 4 year old, Aiden wanted to build a machine that drops bouncy balls. This is what he created.
Cars and Ramps in the Snow – I often bring snow inside for Aiden to play when we can’t go outside. This was his favorite way to play with the snow.
Simple Baking Soda and Vinegar Explorations – Aiden’s most requested science activity. We have done a lot with baking soda and vinegar, but this is how I typically set up the exploration for him when he asks for it.
My Favorite Kid’s Activities
R is for Rock Science – The letter R in our A to Z Science series for toddlers and preschoolers belonged to rocks. Aiden gets his love of rocks from his dad. They both have great rock collections and love finding new ones together. This post reminds me of just how long Aiden has loved rocks {since before he was 2}.
Fizzy Coconut Lime Play Dough – I have wanted to make a soft play dough with conditioner and cornstarch for a while now. This play dough was our version. We couldn’t just stop with a soft dough. We had to make it fizz and foam. The coconut and lime smells are an awesome touch. This dough hits 4 of the 5 senses.
DIY Planets Board Game – Aiden loves all things space. We created this board game during our Astronomy week {part of our Summer Science series}. Have fun racing around the Sun and answering questions about the planets.
Cardboard Tube Monsters – This is another Aiden original. He turned cardboard tubes into monsters in a cool and unique way. They are my favorite craft of the year.
Robots and Glitter Valentine’s Day Card – I’ll admit that I love this card way more than Aiden does. Aiden did like the process of creating his cards though. What kid doesn’t like robots and glitter?
