Dear Mom
Dear Mom,
Thank you for being my mom, my mama.
You held me up to a high standard because you knew what I could achieve.
You encouraged and supported all of my dreams.
You taught me most of what I know about being a mother.
how to have empathy
how to nuture
how to listen
how to hug
You love me unconditionally through all of my hardheadedness.
You let me discover things on my own.
You offer advice when I ask for it.
You catch me when I fall.
You comfort me when I cry.
When I watch you with your grandchildren, I am taken back to my childhood, and I smile.
I remember playing outside while you and the other moms watched.
I remember bike rides, camping trips, beach trips, and road trips.
I remember rainy days and birthday parties and picnics.
I remember bedtime songs and good night kisses.
I don’t say it enough, but you mean the world to me.
Thank you for being my mom.
