ABCs
Aiden is learning his letters.
One could say he is a little obsessed with letters right now.
He points to any letters he sees (everywhere – on boxes, on t-shirts, in books, on signs) and says their names (or what he thinks their names are).
I am actually amazed at how many letters he recognizes. He does say the same letter name for more than one letter (he calls V the letter Y), and he completely ignores other letters (D, F, and L – what are those?).
We have recently been enjoying a game my sister, the kindergarten teacher, taught me. We point to the letters as we sing the ABC song. Ah, but wait, not the ABC song you are thinking of set to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, or Baa, Baa, Black Sheep. No, there is a new ABC song. It’s set to the tune of Mary Had A Little Lamb.
Find a book with all of the letters on one page, or print out the letters yourself.
Sing A, B, C, D, E, F, G, etc… to the tune of Mary Had A Little Lamb.
As you sing each letter, point to the letters (or have your little one point – Aiden likes it when I hold his finger and point for him or he holds my finger and I point).
The letter W has 2 syllables, so point to W twice!

As a parent, are you taking an active role in your child’s learning?
Children are amazing little sponges.
They will learn whatever you allow them to learn, plus more!
Have fun watching your little one learn!
