Build a LEGO United States Map
Build a LEGO United States map to learn more about the 50 states. Paul Bacio sent us his United State Map Building Kit for review. I get commissions for purchases made through the affiliate links in this post.
My 5th grader is currently learning about the different states. We thought it would be a fun idea to build a LEGO map of the U.S. to go along with what he’s learning in class.

We were surprised at how big the map actually is. The finished dimensions are 32 inches by 17 inches.
The kit comes with a digital download for the instructions on how to assemble the map.
If you already have load of LEGO bricks, the instructions are also available to purchase. Be aware that it will take you some time to find all of the LEGO bricks you’ll need for the map. The kit has all of the pieces grouped by state, so it’s super easy to build.
The instructions build each state layer by layer. We found them easy to follow. Aiden and his friend enjoyed building the states together. One of them would get the bricks ready and the other would build. Then, they would take turns.
The kids built the map over the course of a couple weeks. They actually built the first half if 3 days. Then, they came back to it and did a state here or there for a while. Then, they finished the northeast, Hawaii, and Alaska on one day.
Aiden’s biggest concern with the map is that it only connects in the middle via one state. I didn’t see it as a problem, but he wished it connected in more places to make it more stable. (I guess he wants to carry the giant LEGO map around?)

The instructions also include information about each state, such as its capital, state bird, state flower, and some interesting STEM facts. For example, did you know that Missouri (my home state) is also known as the Cave State because it has more than 6,000 caves?
