Quick Play Idea: Make Faces with Legos and Blocks

My son loves building and playing with blocks and Legos. Lately, he plays with them nearly every day. Typically he builds the tallest towers he can before they tumble over. He also likes to make race tracks with the Legos. One day, Aiden started to make faces with Legos and blocks. I thought it was a fun idea so I joined him. He loves to have me draw faces on our little magnetic drawing board or when we are playing drawing games on paper. We like to tell stories with our pictures, too.

Aiden started by making the faces on the floor. He chose the pieces and I helped him place them where he wanted. I asked questions as we went along. What color do you want for the eyes? What shape should we use for the mouth? Which block would you like to use for the nose? He added pieces as well. This one should go here.

We also made our faces on a background of colored cardstock. It was interesting to see how the faces changed based on what background color we used.

We used differently blocks to add hair and eye brows, too.

I’m not really sure what the blocks are on the side of this one. Aiden didn’t explain.

The Mega Blocks seemed to work well because all of the circles on top are in a singe line. The circles on Legos are in groups of four so the faces looked a little odd when we used the top of the Legos. Using the sides of the Legos or the bottoms gave us some cool looking faces though.
