Making Letters with Nature
While we were playing at the playground this summer, Aiden started drawing in the sand. He asked me to draw, too. He requested letters. This gave me the idea of making letters with nature – using objects around us to form the letters.
I had Aiden gather leaves, sticks, and other things from nature that were on the ground.
We used sticks and leaves.
Or just leaves like in the letter D.
We created letters with wood chips.
We shaped moss into the letter O.
This is a great way to explore nature, get moving, and practice letters. You could also practice making words, numbers, or shapes with objects from nature.
Rather than gathering objects, you could try to find letters, numbers, or shapes already in nature. This works especially well for shapes. {Check out my post at the Kids Activities Blog for Finding Shapes in Nature}.
Is this something you’ve ever done? Do you and your kids enjoy making letters with nature?
I would love to connect with you more. You can find Inspiration Laboratories on Twitter, Google+, or Facebook . You can also subscribe to my posts by e-mail.
