Ornaments {Pinterest Inspirations}

Have you been pinning ornament ideas as much as I have?
I want to share with you the great ideas I have found and show you my versions!

My Creations

1. Melted Crayons – Patrick wanted to put paint in one of the glass balls and tried to spin it around to coat the inside.  The paint didn’t move around like we had anticipated.  His idea reminded me of the melted crayon balls from Love Bug Living, so we tried it!
2. The Pinterest inspiration was from Amy at One Artsy Mama.  I wasn’t feeling the sand (even thought there’s tons of it outside my door; I’m amazed that’s there’s not really soil here, it’s just sand…), so I just used shells.  I think I like it.  What about you?
3. Nature Inspired – My Pinterest inspiration was from Erin at Sunshine and Carousels who saw a pin on Pinterest and was inspired. {Pinterest is catchy like that!} I created 3 different nature inspired ornaments.
1. This one has some kind of seed hull and berries.  We have them everywhere outside, so naturally, Aiden loves to collect them.  I like the shape and the colors.  Aiden made this one!
2. This one just has the berries.  I haven’t decided if I like it just the way it is.  Patrick thinks it needs more berries {maybe on our next walk}.
3. I bought the butterfly to make a terrarium ornament.  There is tons of Spanish moss and other types of greenery outside, so I planned on grabbing some.  Aiden destroyed the last batch we collected.  Aiden was having so much fun filling the glass balls with berries, seed hulls, and shells that I bought him his own plastic one to hold by himself.  I gave him a bowl of steel cut oats {remember how I said I have a ton of it}, a spoon, and a funnel and let him fill it, empty it, and fill it again.  Then, I thought it actually looked pretty cool.  I added the butterfly to see what it would look like.  {Ok, so I broke the butterfly the first time I put him in.  I removed him with tweezers, glued him back together, and tried again.}  I like him on the “rocks.”
4. Glitter – Saw this technique at Michael’s, followed the directions, and love how they turned out.  I recently saw step by step instructions at Infarrantly Creative by Tidy Mom’s Cheryl {posted last year}, so if you’re worried that they may be complicated, check out her site and your worries will be relieved.  Once you have rinsed out the glass balls with vinegar and water and allowed them to dry, it takes only a minute to add the glitter – super easy!  {Oh, and Cheryl has two more cute ideas that I have yet to try.}  I created stencils using my new Silhouette Cameo {first thing I made with it}! I taped the stencil to the glass ornaments with painter’s tape and painted them or I just dotted the one with paint straight from the bottle.
