You can get involved in a cool solar eclipse citizen science project with NASA! If you’ll be in North America on August 21st, you can collect data during the solar eclipse. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the path of totality or you’re only going to see a partial eclipse, NASA wants your help to collect cloud and temperature data.

Solar Eclipse Citizen Science Project

Basically, you’ll download an app to record the data. In addition to the app, you’ll need a thermometer to record the air temperature. The goal of the project is to see how atmospheric conditions change during around the time of the solar eclipse. Download the GLOBE Observer app, register as a citizen scientist, and learn how to make eclipse observations. Currently, the app also allows you to record cloud data and map mosquito habitats.
