Make a Sky Book {Summer Virtual Book Club}

Welcome back to the Summer Virtual Book Club! This month’s featured authors are Don and Audrey Wood. I had never read any of their books, so we checked out a large amount from the library. We enjoyed all of the ones we found. Our three favorites were The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear, A Dog Needs A Bone, and Blue Sky. Aiden wanted to make his own sky book inspired by Blue Sky by Audrey Wood.

Blue Sky encourages you to look up at the sky and pay attention to the details. This colorful book describes what you see in the sky with a two word description on each page. Blue sky, sun sky, rainbow sky, etc.

Make a Sky Book

What you need:

  • paper
  • scissors
  • colored pencils/crayons/markers/paint
  • stickers

How to make your own sky book:

  1. Choose how many pages will be in your book.
  2. Fold your pages like a book. {Aiden did not want his paper folded, so I had to cut the pages for him to approve of the book making.}
  3. Think about what kind of sky you want to make. {Go outside and look at the sky. Do you want to draw that? What do you imagine is in the sky? Look at the Blue Sky book. Are there any pages you would like to draw?}
  4. Color your sky using colored pencils, crayons, markers, paint, or even stickers.
  5. Name your sky using two words {example Blue Sky} and write the name on the page.
