Berries and Bananas Smoothie

This is one of our family’s favorite smoothie recipes.  I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

4 ounces frozen strawberries (about 5-6)
4 ounces frozen blueberries (3/4 cup – 1 cup)
1 banana (can be fresh or frozen)
1/2 cup milk (can also use soy milk)
1/2 cup grape juice
1-3 teaspoons of sugar


  1. Microwave the frozen fruit for about 30 seconds to 1 minute (just to thaw them a bit).  You can also thaw them out overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. Place the strawberries, blueberries, banana, milk, and grape juice in your blender.
  3. Blend at the lowest speed and gradually increase your speed until your smoothie is the consistency you desire (takes about 2 minutes).
  4. Taste test your smoothie.  Add sugar if you believe it needs it.  I typically add 1 tablespoon, but it depends on the sweetness of the fruit.  Blend your smoothie to incorporate the sugar and taste again.

Optional:  Turn your smoothie into a frozen treat by using popsicle cups.
