This is one of our family’s favorite smoothie recipes. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
4 ounces frozen strawberries (about 5-6)
4 ounces frozen blueberries (3/4 cup – 1 cup)
1 banana (can be fresh or frozen)
1/2 cup milk (can also use soy milk)
1/2 cup grape juice
1-3 teaspoons of sugar
- Microwave the frozen fruit for about 30 seconds to 1 minute (just to thaw them a bit). You can also thaw them out overnight in the refrigerator.
- Place the strawberries, blueberries, banana, milk, and grape juice in your blender.
- Blend at the lowest speed and gradually increase your speed until your smoothie is the consistency you desire (takes about 2 minutes).
- Taste test your smoothie. Add sugar if you believe it needs it. I typically add 1 tablespoon, but it depends on the sweetness of the fruit. Blend your smoothie to incorporate the sugar and taste again.
Optional: Turn your smoothie into a frozen treat by using popsicle cups.
