What Is It? Wednesday

Every month {while living in Missouri}, we received the Missouri Conservationist magazine at home and in my classroom.  {It’s free to Missouri residents.}  For as long as I can remember {or paid attention}, they had a picture on the back of the magazine with an invitation to guess what it was.  It was always an organism from Missouri.  They zoomed in on a certain part of the organism to make it more interesting.  I hung the magazine up on my classroom whiteboard.  My students and I always had fun guessing what the organism was.  I was pretty good at guessing the type of organism, but I didn’t always get the exact species. {I knew it was fish scales, but I couldn’t tell you what kind of fish.}  My husband, on the other hand, guessed them right every time.  There was no stumping him.  This year the Missouri Conservationist has stopped the fun picture guessing game {not sure why}.  I miss it, so I’m going to bring it to Inspiration Laboratories.  I’m calling it What Is It? Wednesday.

What Is It? Wednesday

On What Is It? Wednesday posts, I will share a picture or two.  Your job will be to guess what the picture is.  I may gave you a hint or I may not.  The picture could be of anything, but it will always be a picture I took {unless anyone wants to submit a picture to be featured – that might be fun, too!}.

The teacher in me wants to do a practice picture together.  Sound good?  Okay.

What is it?

What is it?

Did you say zebra?  Good.  Here’s the full picture.

Now here’s one to try on your own.

Leave your answer in the comments.  {I tried not to make it too difficult or too easy…how did I do?}

And here’s one for the {younger} kids.

I never said they couldn't be easy. 😉

What is it?

Did you have as much fun with this as I have with the magazine pictures?  I hope so!

I’ll post this week’s answers next Wednesday along with some new pictures.
